How Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research works in Pokémon Go
The Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research quest is part of the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event in Pokémon Go and is only available to players who purchase a ticket for this event.
To unlock this questline, you must play Pokémon Go on Saturday, 20th February between 9am (local time) to 9pm (local time). This quest doesn't have a deadline, so, once its unlocked, feel free to complete it in your own time.
The challenges you face will differ slightly depending on whether you're playing the Red or Green version of the event. Your chosen version will also determine the style of hat you'll during this questline.
Completing Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research will not only result in an encounter with a shiny Ditto, but will unlock the Mew Masterwork Research quest and it's ultimate reward of a shiny Mew.
Once unlocked, Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research doesn't have a deadline, which means it can be completed after its associated event ends. We recommend, however, completing the questline during the actual Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event, as it will be easier to complete a number of the tasks.
Aside from this questline, purchasing a ticket for the event will also unlock 10 Collection Collections - Pallet Town, Pewter City, Cerulean City, Fuchsia City, Pokémon League, Raid, Research, Evolve, Trade and Incense. The latter two are different depending on whether you're playing the Red or Green version of the event.

Tips for completing Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research in Pokémon Go
Here are tips which will help you complete the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research in Pokémon Go:
- While this special research questline doesn't have a deadline, it is easier to complete during the actual Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event, thanks to the increased spawn rate for certain Pokémon.
- Remote Raid Passes now allow you to partake in raids from the comfort of your own home. You can even pick up some free Remote Raid Passes during the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event.
- If you want to quickly earn some hearts with your Pokémon buddy, try feeding it berry treats, playing with it or giving it a Poffin.
- Having trouble with Nice Throws? Find a Pokémon with a large catch radius like Mr. Mime, because this will make it easier to judge your throws.
- If you're having trouble finding a variety of Pokémon species, then try placing one of the special Lure Modules - Glacial, Magnetic or Mossy - at a PokéStop. Each of these modules will attract a different type of Pokémon, making it easier to you to find a wide variety of creatures.
- Incense will also attract Pokémon to your location, allowing you to find a wider range of Pokémon.
Good luck completing this new quest and catching shiny Ditto!
